Mount Everest (Nepali Language Called Sagarmatha/Chinese language Qomolangma) is world’s highest mountain above sea level with an elevation of 8848.86 M, situated in Mahalangur Himalayan Range, Nepal. Mt. Everest is the border between China and Nepal. We can also refer Mt. Everest as Roof of the world, referring to the fact it is Earth’s Highest Mountain. 

Previously Mt. Everest has got an elevation of 8848M. 8848.86M is most recently established elevation on 8th December 2020 by both Nepalese and Chinese authorities. 

In Nepali it calls Mount Everest as Sagarmatha (goddess of the sky), this name was given by Nepal Government as recommended by Baburam Acharya, Nepalese historian and literary scholar, in the 1960s. In Tibetan Language Everest is known as Qomolangma. 

Mt.Everest was given its Official name in 1865 by Royal Geographical Society (RGS), as recommended by Andrew Waugh, the British Surveyor General of India, who chose the name of his predecessor in the post, Sir George Everest, despite Everest's objections.

Is Mt. Everest In India?

It is the known fact that Nepal is a landlocked country with two Neighbors China and India. China covers the North Border of Nepal and the rest three directions are covered by India. Nepal has Mountain region in the North part of the country and the map of India never touches the North part of Nepal. Thus, this question unarguably one answer i.e. Mount Everest is not in India. 

Is Mt. Everest in China or Nepal

Nepal and China Border run across the Mountain as Border of Both countries. There are two main climbing routes, one approaching the summit from the southeast in Nepal (known as the "standard route") and the other from the north in Tibet. But the main Summit is located in Nepal. And anybody who wants to climb Everest usually use Standard route which is in Nepal because the route of China is difficult as compared to Standard route of Nepal. 

How much does it cost to go to Mt. Everest?

The cost depends upon the group size. If you’re a group of 2 persons it will cost about $40,000 per person. The cost can be minimized if the group size is large. It means you’ll have reduced cost for a large group and vice-versa. 

How many people die in Mt. Everest each year?  

People die every year on Everest from falls, storms, avalanches, lack of oxygen, freezing or underlying health issues.
The 2019 season on Mt. Everest is one of the deadliest climbing seasons on record. At least 11 people died this season. 

Who is the first person to Climb on the Mt. Everest? 

Tenzing Norgay Sherpa Nepali Climber and Sir Edmund Hillary New Zeeland Climber made the first official ascent of Everest in 1953, using the southeast ridge Nepal side route.
