Kailash Mansarovar tour, Mt. Kailash (known in Tibetan as Kang Rinpoche or “Precious Jewel of Snow”) is a 6,638 m (21,778 ft) high peak in the Kailash Range (Gangdise Mountains). Journey to Mt. Mt. Amazing to know that it is also a source of four major river system Karnali-Bharmaputra Sutlej and Yamuna, where the wonderful journey to Mt. Kailash & Lake Manasarovar leads you to wonder most spectacular place on earth.
Starting with an overland journey heading north of Kathmandu to enter a newly opened border town of Kyirong and then into Tibet vast dry and windswept country which leads you first at sacred Manasarovar huge lake and then at the foot of holy Mt. Kailash where our pilgrimage walks takes you around and over the high pass of Dorma-la above 5,470 m a holy spot festooned with thousands of prayer flags and offering.
After enjoying views of Kailash north face heading down to Barkha valley for the return journey back to Kathmandu with everlasting memories and overwhelming adventure of a lifetime on Journey to Holy Mt. Kailash & Lake Manasarovar.
Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotels.
On reaching Kathmandu Airport, our representative from Jugal Holidays receive you with a warm greeting and then transfer into a hotel. The evening includes welcome group dinner in a nice restaurant introducing you with typical Nepali cuisine with folk dance program of all parts of Nepal as entertainment.
Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.
Morning activities start after breakfast, where our city guide will accompany you to interesting World Heritage Sites in our wonderful sightseeing tour, which helps you to gain knowledge regarding local culture and traditional life of Nepalese people as it was for many past centuries. Tour leads around Kathmandu Durbar Square teemed with local life around historical sites and monuments, then heading due west at Swayambhunath Stupa (popularly known as Monkey Temple where large numbers of monkeys found around). One of the oldest monuments of Nepal dates back more than 2,500 years old overlooking views of Kathmandu valley and the city from this hillock Buddhist Chaitya or Stupa.
After with lunch in a local restaurant as the tour continues to holy Hindu Temple of Pashupatinath towards the east of the city, one of the holiest Hindu sites, where the great festival takes place in the month of February known as Shiva Ratri.
Day 03: Drive to Syabrubesi 1,460 m - 07 hrs journey.
Starting Journey to Holy Mt. Kailash & Lake Manasarovar with exciting drive towards North West of Kathmandu past farm villages and towns with grand views of snowcapped peaks and then reaching at cooler areas within Langtang Himal in Dhunche 1,900 m high, a main and headquarter town of Rasuwa district around Langtang area, populated by Tamang people the hill tribe of Nepal.
From here downhill for two hours with overnight at Syabrubesi, the door to Langtang, Ganesh and into Tamang Heritage Trail and as well to Tibet border.
Day 04: Drive to Kyirong 2,890 m (Kyidrong / Dzonga).
From Syabrubesi morning drive leads on newly built road that links Nepal / Tibet towards Rasuwagadhi (1800m / 15 km / 1 hr min from Syabrubesi), here received by our Tibetan counterpart guide and drivers, after completing immigration & custom formalities on both side of the frontier Nepal / Tibet at Rasuwagadhi, continue drive further to Kyirong county with first overnight stop in Tibet accommodation at local guest-house.
At Kyirong afternoon with time to relax and enjoy views of Ganesh and Langtang Himal that borders Nepal and Tibet.
Day 05: At Kyirong rest day for acclimatization.
A necessary and important rest day for acclimatization before heading higher terrain as this village a perfect spot for rest with an altitude of 2,890 m. next day drive leads above 4,500 meters and much higher overpasses.
At Kyirong relax and enjoy the views of Ganesh and Langtang Himal peaks towards the south that borders Nepal and Tibet. Kyirong is also a famous religious and historical place, home of 11th Centaury great saint and Guru Milarepa is known for his tantric wisdom as well a poet and folk singer, his song are still remembered by local herdsman and villagers.
Day 06: Drive to Saga 4,400m - 05 hrs. (240 k.m)
After a nice pleasant rest and wonderful stop at Kyirong morning continue to drive on the world highest and largest Tibetan plateau into inner Tibet wild windswept high and dry landscapes, as the drive joins on the road coming from Nylam / Zhangmu near Paikutsho huge salt lakes.
From here heading over a small pass to reach Bhramputra River or Yalung Tsangpo after crossing the river on a bridge reach at Saga town, a growing moderate size town located on route Mt. Kailash and Shigatse / Lhasa.
Day 07: Drive to Paryang 4,550 m - 05 hrs. (210 k.m.)
From Saga few hours drive over a pass then descending to a long stretch of Tibetan plains, with great views of distant peaks. The drive passes few villages and nomads/yak herders’ camps and then reaching a windswept village at Paryang. Paryang at approx 4,550m is a village of 15-20 houses mainly serving as Guesthouses and Lodge, where the facilities are very simple and basic.
Day 08: Drive to east Manasrover 4,550 m - 06 hrs (240 k.m.)
The morning continues drive passing some small villages and nomads camps, and then over Mayam-la at 5,150m to reach at the east of Lake Mansarovar for an overnight stop near Horpa town with the first view of Mt. Kailash towards North West direction.
Day 09: Acclimatization and Rest Day at Mansarovar.
Rest day for acclimatization with an optional short walk around Mansarovar, a sacred lake located between Mt. Kailash 6,714m and the Gurla Mandhata mountain range at 7,694 m.
Mansarovar floats beneath the shadow of holy Kailash as the lake formed in the mind of Gods. The best time to circle Manasarovar is in late autumn and early spring when the streams and rivers flowing into the lake are low. It is then possible to walk very near the shoreline. An optional circuit or parikrama on drive trip around Mansarovar Lake can be done on request which takes about 3-4 hrs of 110 k.m distance round trip.
Day 10: Drive to Tarboche via Darchen 4,600m walk to Dhiraphuk 4,900 m (12 k.m.).
After a wonderful rest at Holy Lake Mansarovar, a short drive to Darchen town with many hotels and guesthouses, a busy small town with pilgrims during the auspicious time for parikrama/kora or circuit. Darchen located South Face of Mt. Kailash where holy walk/kora start and ends, our drive leads North West at the holy spot of Tarboche where the walk starts with a view of Mt. Kailash West Face.
Kailash (6,714m.), the heart of ancient Shangshung kingdom supposed country of pre-Buddhist Bonpos origin. After 4 hrs walk brings you at Diraphuk Gompa for an overnight stop in a simple lodge.
Day 11: Trek to Zutul-Puk 4,760 m via Droma-la 5, 470 m. (22 k.m.)
After Dhiraphuk, morning walk on the gradual path for an hour then climb to reach the top at Dromo-la the highest point of the journey and a holy spot at 5,470m /18,525ft. A big boulder represents the goddess Dolma or Dromo (Tara) festooned with prayer flags. This spot is the physical and spiritual high point of pilgrimage.
From here descend to the bottoms of the hill and walk to Zutul-Puk Gompa for an overnight stop, Zuthul means cave. The place is named after a cave in which the poet, saint Milarepa stayed meditating. His footprint still remains on the roof.
Day 12: Trek to near Darchen (08 k.m) and drive near Maium-la.
Last day of holy walk ‘kora’ or parikrama, starts with an easy walk of 3 hours on a broad plain passing many mani walls, then coming to a narrow valley with short section of gorge as the route turns towards west to Darchen, the last leg of the walk make a dramatic exit from the river valley on to the plain, walk passes mani walls decorated with carved yak skulls.
A short walk from here brings at near Darchen with an end of this great trek, from here drive back near Maium-la around Lake Manasarovar for the overnight stop.
Day 13: Retrace the drive back to Saga via Paryang.
A long drive today to reach at Saga town via Paryang, retracing journey on the same route for 6-7 hours of overland drive to Saga for the overnight stop.
Day 14: Drive to Kyirong and camp or in the local guesthouse - 05 hrs.
Drive back heading due south to Kyirong County after driving past and end of vast Tibetan plateau following the same route to Kyirong for last overnight stop in Tibetan soil.
Day 15: Drive to Dhunche town 1,900 m - 05 hrs.
Farewell to our Tibetan guides and drivers as morning starts leaving Tibet with short drive to the border post of Nepal and Tibet / China at Rasuwa-Gadhi, here on completing visa and custom formalities then enter into Nepal border at Rasuwa Gadhi, here again following and completing immigration forms and continue drive on rough dirt road for a while to reach at Syabrubesi village, after a short refreshing break journey continues on winding uphill to reach at Dhunche town for overnight stop.
Day 16: Drive back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel - 05 hrs.
After a great time in Tibet with an adventure on top Mt. Everest back into green vegetation and tall trees, catch the views of Ganesh and Langtang Himal, as morning drive leads downhill reaching around warmer areas of rice fields and terraces past Ramche, Mani-Bhanjyang and Trisuli Bazaar.
Day 17: International departure for homeward bound.
Last day in amazing Nepal the country of Himalaya wonders, depart from the hotel as per your international flight for homeward bound or to your next destination country our staff transfer you to the airport, after wonderful experience and fond memories of Journey to Holy Mt. Kailash & Lake Mansarovar.
