Trip Introduction

Muktinath Temple trek via Jomsom is very fascinating and adventurous trek allowing you to explore Mustang district of Nepal. Muktinath Temple is situated at an altitude of 3710m at the base of the Thorong La mountain pass in Muktinath Valley of Mustang District. It is a sacred place of Hindu, as well as Buddhist. This place is also called as Mukti Kshetra, which means “the place of liberation” in Hinduism. There are 108 holy taps and it is believed that one who will bath in this 108 holy taps will open door to heaven washing of all sins of their lifetime. External as well as internal tourism for this place is more or less same due to its religious value. This classic trek will allow one to analyze the awesome diversified Annapurna region along the world’s deepest gorge Kali Gandaki. The mountain vistas, semi-arid landscapes, unique temples and monasteries along the windy valleys are some of the remarkable views on the way.

Day 1

After arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), a representative from Jugal Holidays will receive you and transfer to the hotel. In the evening, enjoy welcome dinner hosted by Annapurna encounter which is the great introduction to the country’s food culture. Overnight at a star hotel in Kathmandu

Day 2

After breakfast, proceed for sightseeing around the famous UNESCO world heritage sites of Kathmandu. We visit Pashupatinath Temple – the sacred Hindu temple located on the bank of holy river Bagmati, Boudha Stupa – the biggest stupa architecture in Nepal and Swayambhunath Stupa – the 2,000 years old legendary Stupa perched on a hillock.

The sightseeing tour also covers the visit to Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, the Krishna Temple, the Kumbheswore Temple, the Golden Temple and many more. The sightseeing tour ends Kathmandu Durbar Square that is home to living goddess Kumari, Nautale Durbar, the Kaal Bhairav, the Swer Bhairav, the Freak Street and more. Overnight at a star hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 3

After breakfast, we fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara with an outstanding view of valleys, hills, and mountains. After landing in Pokhara, we drive to Nayapul (1 hour and 20 minutes) and start the trek. We walk towards the Bhurundi River and make an ascend through the lush forest. Next, we cross a suspension bridge before rising up to Tikhedhunga. Overnight at lodge in Tikhedhunga

Day 4

Today, we climb down through the forest and cross a bridge over the Burundi Khola. We negotiate a steep trail to Ulleri and continue ascending further to reach Ghorepani. Ghorepani means “horse water” in Nepali. The village used to an important campsite for horse trader where they stop and feed water to their horse. Overnight at lodge in Ghorepani

Day 5

Today we enjoy the great views of Annapurna south and Nilgiri mountains before starting our journey to Tatopani. At first, we descend to Shikha village followed by another descend to Ghar Khola village. Next, we cross the suspension bridge before heading straight up to Tatopani. Here we soothe at natural hot spring to relax our tired muscles. Overnight at lodge in Tatopani

Day 6

After breakfast, we climb gradually on a trail with Kali Gandaki River on our right. We walk across beautiful waterfalls, Rupse Chhahara and ascend further to Ghasa which is majestically perched in the lower part of Kali Gandaki valley. The village is the paradise for bird-watching enthusiasts. Overnight at lodge in Ghasa.

Day 7

Today we climb through the steep forest to the Lete Khola (stream). As we join an eastern trail and reach Larjung village. On the way, we admire beautiful apple orchards and vegetable farms. Marpha is popular for its tasty apples. Overnight at lodge in Marpha

Day 8

From Marpha, we climb a ridge and reach Jomsom. Now we take a northern trail towards Kagbeni, up the Kali Gandaki River which is the deepest gorge in the world. It gets windy so it is very important to walk at a steady pace. From Kagbeni we get the great views of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri and Tukuche Peaks. Overnight at lodge in Kagbeni.

Day 9

After getting permits checked, we move on a trail along the riverbank of Kaligandaki. We climb steeply that connects the trail to Khingar at 3,200m. The trail then rises through arid landscapes until Jarkot village. The further climb leads us to Muktinath. Overnight at lodge in Muktinath

Day 10

Muktinath is a significant pilgrimage site from Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. We pay homage to Muktinath temple before joining our trail to Jomsom. There are water spots where holy water pours out channeled from the streams above the temple. As we move we can admire the incredible beauty of Mt. Dhaulagiri. We walk through the meadow, cross streams and hill to reach Kagbeni. It is a village laden with chortens (memorial stupas) and monasteries. After lunch at Kagbeni, we walk through Kali Gandaki River valley to reach Jomsom. Overnight at lodge in Jomsom

Day 11

After breakfast, we catch an early morning flight to Pokhara. The flight is exciting as we get the aerial view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges and Kali Gandaki Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world.

The comfortable climate will definitely make us feel better. We take a boat ride in a turquoise lake of Phewa. If time permits, we visit Davis falls and various cultural sites. Overnight at a star hotel in Pokhara.

Day 12

After morning breakfast, drive back to Kathmandu via tourist bus enjoying the mid-hill scenery. After hotel check-in, take a rest day off or enjoy a free day at Kathmandu or catch up on some last minute shopping or explore missed physical landmarks in Kathmandu. Join farewell dinner organized by Annapurna Encounter to celebrate the successful completion of the journey. Overnight at a star hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 13

Your adventurous journey in Nepal comes to an end today. Our airport representative will drop you to the airport approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight.
