Island Peak With EBC Trek is designed for adventure seekers. Island Peak(Imja Tse)(6,189m), is a mountain in Sagarmatha National Park of the Himalayas of eastern Nepal. This peak was named Island Peak in 1953. It was named by members of the British Mount Everest expedition as it appears an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche. Later the peak was renamed in 1983 as Imja Tse but Island Peak became the popular choice. The peak is actually an extension of the ridge coming down off the south end of Lhotse Shar.
