Trip Introduction

Janakpur is also known as Janakpur Dham in the Dhanusha District. Cultural and religious tourism is popular in the city. According to popular belief, the city was the capital of the Videha dynasty, which ruled the Mithila region. The city was founded in the 18th century. It is a major pilgrimage site for Hindus because it is linked to the Ramayana. Goddess Sita is said to be born here and married to Lord Ram. It is also known as the city of ponds due to the presence of more than 70 ponds.

The city is well-known for its wide-ranging cultural history, arts, language, and literature. It’s the beating heart of Mithila civilization. The Ram Janaki temple, also known as the Nau Lakha Mandir because it cost 9 lakhs to build, is one of Janakpur’s major attractions. Another attraction in Janakpur is the Ram Mandir, which was built in honor of Lord Ram. The evening aarti at Ganga Sagar is also well-known.

Halesi Mahadev is also known as “Matrika cave”. The Halesi Mahadev is located at a height of 1,460m in the Khotang district of Eastern Nepal. The cave lies 67 ft. below the land’s surface. It has been a popular religious place since ancient Times. The temple is highly important to Hindus, Buddhists, and Kiratas. The temple is located on the top of a tiny hill within a magnificent and mysterious natural cave. Two sacred rivers, the Dudh Koshi and the Sun Koshi run through the temple.

Halesi Mahadev is said to have existed for 6,000 years. Halesi Mahadev, three mystery caverns are said to be Lord Shiva’s three eyes. Even though Pashupatinath is the most important Lord Shiva Temple for Hindus. Every year during Shivaratri, many devotees visit Haleshi Mahadev to worship Lord Mahadev because Halesi Mahadev is also nicknamed the “Pashupatinath of East”.
