Kongde Peak Climbing – 14 Days

Trip Introduction

Kondge Ri is a peak in Eastern Nepal’s Himalaya. The mountain can be reached 4 km away west of Namche Bazaar. It’s one of the toughest peaks to scale. It is located in Nepal’s Mahalangur Mountain Range, far within Mount Everest’s Solukhumbu District. This peak should be attempted by Professional Climbers. It is situated at a height of 6,011 meters. It belongs to the Climbing category B. It is the highest peak in the Lumding Mountain Range. It’s also a part of the Rolwaling Mountain range, and it acts as a barrier between the Rolwaling and Khumbu regions.

The trail to Kongde Peak Base Camp passes through Sherpa villages and stunning glacier scenery. Visit old Buddhist monasteries and stay in modest teahouses run by Sherpa families. The views from the summit of this mountain are amazing, and the stunning high ridge climb makes the path to the top even more memorable. Several techniques in safe mountain travel at high elevations will be taught and tested during the trek, including glacier hiking, climbing, and moving on mixed snow and ice terrain. The peaks of Mt. Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, Cho Oyo, Kanchenjunga, Ama Dablam, and Rolwaling can all be seen from here.

The 13-day journey starts with a flight to Lukla. The flight usually lasts between 30 and 35 minutes. The trek’s starting point is Lukla. Lukla is a major town in the Khumbu region. We’ll walk to Phakding along the Dudh Khosi River. We will pass through several settlements, including Ghat Pari, Yak Kharka, and Lumding Kharka. From Lumding Kharka, we will trek to Kongde Ri base camp, where we will prepare for the climb, and then to High camp, which is the final camp. From High camp, we will summit Kongde Peak and return to Base camp. We will continue our descent to Lukla, where our trek will come to an end.

Is this trek appropriate for you?

  • This trek includes 10 days of strenuous climbing. You’ll be trekking for 4 to 9 hours per day, reaching elevations of over 6000 meters at times. We cannot overestimate the importance of being in excellent physical shape and health, which requires training before your trip to ensure that you are properly prepared.
  • This is the trek for you if you have previous rock climbing or wall climbing experience. It is recommended that you have prior experience with high-altitude trekking.
  • The weather in the Himalayas can be unpredictable, and every year a large number of flights to or from Lukla are delayed or canceled because of weather conditions, so you should plan accordingly.
  • The teahouses, or trekking lodges, where we stay on the trek are very basic, with just basic services. Hot water may not be accessible at all times and may be charged extra, as will access to electrical outlets for charging electronics. Wi-Fi is available in some areas, although the quality of the connection may be poor.
  • The path twists and turns through challenging terrain. At 6,011 meters, you’ll reach the highest peak. Because of the weather, isolation, and high altitude of this walk, it’s critical to take it carefully and stay hydrated.
