It shares cultural and geographical similarities with Tibet. Mustang was the Independent Kingdom at the time. The region is well-known for its Buddhist culture. The purpose of this trek is to discover the hidden ancient Buddhist kingdom of Upper Mustang.
The trek’s main highlight is crossing the Trans Himalayas, exploring the ancient walled city of Lo Manthang, several monasteries and gompas, and Muktinath, a holy place for both Hindu and Buddhist religions. You will see Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Dhaulagiri, and Mt. Nigiri up close. It has a distinct charm and fascinating that no other trekking route can match.
The 15-day journey begins with a drive to Pokhara, a lakeside city. The journey will take approximately 6 to 7 hours. The next day, fly to Jomsom, the Mustang district’s headquarters, and begin your trek to the Kagbeni from there. You will travel via the lovely villages of Chele, Syanbochen, Ghami, and Charang before arriving at the old city of Lo Manthang. From there, we’ll walk to the holy places of Yara, Tangbe, Tetang, and Muktinath. From there, we’ll make our way back to the start of our walk, where we’ll finish it.
