Bhutan Tour lets you discover the beauty and living style of the Bhutanese people. Bhutan is a rich mosaic of different cultures, traditions, lifestyles, ethnic groups, languages and beliefs. The country currently has no UNESCO World Heritage Sites, but it has eight declared tentative sites for UNESCO inclusion since 2012. These sites include Ancient Ruin of Drukgyel Dzong, Bumdeling Wildlife Sanctuary, Dzongs; the center of temporal and religious authorities, Jigme Dorji National Park, Royal Manas National Park, Sacred Sites associated with Phajo Drugom Zhigpo and his descendants, Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary, and Tamzhing Monastery.

Bhutan also has numerous tourist sites that are not included in its UNESCO tentative list. Bhutan has one element, the Mask dance of the drums from Drametse, registered in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List. Bhutan is also well known for mountain adventure trekking and hiking. Jhomolhari Base Camp Trek, Snowman Trek, and Masagang trek are some of the popular treks in Bhutan.

Bhutan Cultural Tour

Bhutan’s culture is strongly based on its Tibetan form of Mahayana Buddhism, which contains a sprinkling of Tibet’s ancient Bon shamanist religion. The country’s rich heritage, protected by Bhutan’s isolation from the modern world until the 1960s, is still very much in evidence. For most visitors to the country, Bhutan’s traditions and uniqueness are the main attractions, just ahead of its spectacular and mostly unspoiled natural beauty.

Thimphu

It is the capital and largest city of Bhutan. The culture of Bhutan is fully reflected in Thimphu in literature, religion, customs, and national dress code, the monastic practices of the monasteries, music, and dance, and in the media. Tshechu is an important festival when mask dances, popularly known as Cham dances, are performed in the courtyards of the Tashichho Dzong in Thimphu. It is a four-day festival held every year in September or October, on dates corresponding to the Bhutanese calendar.

Paro

It is 52 Km far away from Thimpu (Capital of Bhutan). Paro is the most attractive place of Bhutan’s valleys. Rinpung Dzong a fortress-monastery overlooking the Paro valley has a long history. A monastery was first built on the site by Padma Sambhava at the beginning of the tenth century, but it was not until 1644 that Ngawang Namgyal built a larger monastery on the old foundations; for centuries this imposing five-story building served as an effective defense against numerous invasion attempts by the Tibetans.

Bumthang

Bumthang directly translates as “beautiful field”.Bumthang Dzongkhag consists of four main valleys, Ura, Chumey, Tang and Choekhor. Choekhor is the largest of the four and is widely considered as ‘Bumthang Valley’. The valleys are broad and gentle carved by the ancient glaciers. The valley is home to the sacred Jampa and Kurjey monasteries.

Wangdue Phodrang

Wangdue Phodrang is a town and capital of Wangdue Phodrang District in central Bhutan. Wangdue Phodrang is one of the largest dzongkhags in the country. As the district covers 4,308 sq. km and ranges from 800-5800m in altitude, it has extremely varied climatic conditions ranging from subtropical forests in the south to cool and snowy regions in the north. The little town is popular for the tales of shaman culture, ornamental speeches or Lozeys of Shaa, the ancestral home of Pema Tshewang Tashi, the knight whose lozey still remains a favorite amongst the Bhutanese. The higher reaches of the valley provides rich pastureland for cattle.
